Turron is a type of nougat confection that is famous in southern European countries. Similar to other types of nougat, turron is made out of egg white, honey, sugar, and nuts. A common nut used in nougats is almonds. This dessert or snack is baked and is usually served during Christmas. The snack usually comes in small rectangular shapes or as a round cake. Nowadays, visitors can purchase the traditional turron as well as modern versions of this dessert. They are often packaged very nicely to make nice gifts.

A. Yes, there is. A very popular snack in America with nuts in it is the peanut brittle. This snack is very popular and very easy to make. Peanuts are added to a simple water and sugar mixture until it boils. Once it boils other ingredients are added and the mixture is allowed to cool in a baking tray. Once the mixture cools, it will harden like brittle candy. The cooled mixture is broken up into little pieces which can then be enjoyed. Where I come from in America, peanut brittles can be found year-round but it is most popular during the Christmas season. Families will make a lot of peanut brittle and pack them into tin foils or clear plastic gift bags to give to friends, family, and neighbors.
