Taxis in Thailand are in general new and comfortable, and the drivers are helpful too. All taxis are required to use their meters and the fare is reasonable. Unlike taxis in other cities, like New York or London, Thai taxis have different colors. They are in colors of hot pink, bright orange, blue, yellow, green, and so on. The different colors tell you whether the taxis are company taxis, personal taxis, or rental taxis.

태국의 택시는 일반적으로 신형이며 편안하고 운전사들도 친절하다. 모든 택시는 미터기를 사용해야 하며, 요금도 합리적이다. 뉴욕이나 런던과 같은 다른 도시의 택시와는 달리, 태국 택시는 다른 색깔을 가지고 있다. 그것들은 핫핑크, 밝은 오렌지, 파란색, 노란색, 녹색 등의 색을 하고 있다.
각각의 색깔들은 택시가 회사택시인지, 개인택시인지, 렌트택시인지 알려준다.

Q. What do you think about the difference between traditional taxis and Uber or Kakao taxi?

A. Uber has been gaining market shares since its introduction. Both Uber and the traditional taxi charge rates based on time and distance traveled, but Uber is able to calculate the estimated cost and let the passengers know when they call for a ride. With traditional taxis, passengers can only know the cost at the end of a ride. On the other hand, Uber takes into consideration the speed and flow of traffic but traditional taxis doesn’t. For these reasons I prefer Uber, because I like to know the estimated cost beforehand.
