Every year, thousands of visitors brave the cold temperatures to participate in trout ice fishing in the Hwacheon Sancheoneo Ice Festival in South Korea. Held on an ice-covered river in Gangwon province, visitors drop their fishing lines into the ice which has been drilled with holes and patiently wait for their catch. This is one of Korea's most popular winter festivals. It also includes other fun activities such as ice-sledding, ice soccer, snowmen-building, snow tunnels, and snow slides.
