Popularity

My name is Teal, and I am a very shy person. Ever since I was young, I have always been very quiet and reserved. Although I enjoy occasional time alone, I find it very lonely to be alone during lunch time and recess. I really admire the classmates who are popular in class. They are always so joyful, sociable, welcoming, and surrounded by lots of friends everywhere. For me, however, I am just a shy girl who is always in the corner of every classroom reading my book. Maybe if I talk to other classmates more, or to Devin, the most popular kid in class, I can break out of my shell and be part of classroom activities. I am not looking to be the most popular person in class, that would be too much to ask for. Maybe I can ask Devin for advice on how to be popular, and he can give me some pointers. I need to take baby steps. I should start by talking to my classmates more, be friends with them, and hopefully they will accept me as a friend as well.
