Don’t Wave for the Waiter

To get the attention of the server or any person of service in a restaurant in Australia, do not wave or call to get their attention. Doing so is considered very rude. The correct way to get the attention of a server is to keep an eye out for them until they make eye contact with you, then gently nod or raise your hand slightly to get their attention. Another way is to politely say “excuse me” when a server passes by your table.
