Smorgastarta is a famous sandwich cake from Sweden. The Swedish put everything that they like in layers of bread and serve it as a cake. There are no rules on what goes on the cake. People just put whatever they like to eat. However, smorgastarta with salmon and seafood is the most popular. This smorgastarta is filled with eggs, prawns, and mayonnaise on layered bread. It is covered with cream cheese and lemon juice. Fish roe, cucumber strips, tomatoes, olives, and herbs are used to decorate the sandwich cake. Smorgastarta is a festive meal that is usually served at parties, weddings or graduation ceremonies.
