France has long been recognized as one of the leaders in fine dining cuisine. It is not surprising that France has the most Michelin-star restaurants in the world. France was awarded a total of 628 Michelin stars in 2020 by the Michelin guide. Of the total, 29 restaurants were awarded three Michelin stars, 86 restaurants were awarded two Michelin stars, and 513 each received one Michelin star.

Q. Does your country have a lot of Michelin-star restaurants?

A. I didn’t know exactly how many Michelin-star restaurants there are in South Korea, so I did a Google search. There are a total of 32 Michelin-starred restaurants in South Korea. The number is not very high, but it seems to be quite a lot compared to other Asian countries around us. We are especially proud that Michelin chefs often choose Korean traditional dishes for their creative elevation. It is nice that every day dishes are recreated as high-end dishes by Michelin chefs and we can make them known worldwide.
