As a preschooler everything was just new and exciting for me all the time. However, now that I am a teenage boy, there are certain things that I enjoy more and certain things that I would rather not do. First of all, I like to eat fast food such as pizza, hamburgers, and fries. Aren't they the best foods in the world? Every time I eat them, I feel like I am in heaven. They neither disappoint me nor surprise me. They are always sweet, greasy, and truly comforting. On the other hand, I do not like to eat cauliflower, spinach, or green onions. They are not delicious but yucky. My mom always tells me they are good for my health, but I really don't think so.
Second, going to the water park in summer is awesome. There are lots of things to enjoy such as the wave pool, splash pads, water slides, tube rides, and bungee jumping. Even though the place is crowded, it is totally worth it. When I am in the water, I totally lose track of time. However, my dad likes to go hiking in summer, which I really don't understand. He believes that hiking makes our mind and body strong. So, we have this family tradition that every summer we go camping and hiking. But the worst part is that nobody can use cell phones or portable game players while camping. How can a teenage boy or girl survive without them? My sister and I have complained about this so many times. But my dad never listens to us.
Third, I like to hang out with my friends all the time. We play soccer, baseball, basketball, and do many other things as well. There are tons of things that boys can do together for fun. Every time we get together, we never stop laughing. However, we cannot just play all the time because we have to do our homework and study for tests. Homework and tests are not friendly words to us. They can be quite scary sometimes. I know learning is necessary, but it can be a really tough process when there are loads of homework and tests all the time.
Finally, my parents always tell me that if I do only what I want to do in life, I will never grow or learn anything. The thing is that I do not want to be an immature and selfish person when I grow up. I would rather be a mature, responsible man whom everybody looks up to. So, perhaps what we need is to find the balance between the things that we like and things that we do not like for the sake of our future.
