Tourtiere

Tourtiere is a French Canadian meat pie that goes back as early as 1600. This flaky pie received its name from the shallow pie dish that it was baked in. It is made by combining ground meat, onion, and savory seasoning. Almost every Canadian family has their own tourtiere recipe with their own secret ingredients. This hearty pie is most commonly eaten at Christmas and New Year’s, although it is in grocery stores in Quebec year round.
