Zopf

Zopf is an iconic Swiss bread. The distinctive feature of zopf bread is the braided design. The outside is crusty but the inside of the bread is soft, white bread. The zopf dough is brushed with egg white before being placed in the oven to be baked. This gives the bread its beautiful golden-brown appearance. Zopfs were traditionally enjoyed at breakfast on Sundays. On Sundays, locals would walk to the bakery to pick up a fresh loaf of zopf. Nowadays, zopf is available to be enjoyed any day of the week.
