Q.
Describe an interesting festival from your hometown or country.
A.
There is a very popular garlic festival in my hometown in San Francisco, USA. Believe it or not, everything is made out of garlic at this festival, including ice-cream! It always takes place near the end of summer. Entry to the garlic festival is free but visitors have to pay for the rides and anything that they want to buy at the festival. I remember there were jams made out of garlic, garlic popcorn, garlic candy, garlic cookies, and garlic ice-cream, which was surprisingly delicious. There was also a garlic bread making contest. The garlic and butter spread were provided by the festival organizers and participants had to spread the garlic spread between pre-cut loaves of French bread. The first person to apply all the garlic bread spread to all the bread wins. The winner usually brings home a basket full of garlic goodies. It is one of the most interesting festivals that I have been to. I have brought friends before who said they were not interested or not in the mood because it’s garlic but once we were there, they couldn’t get enough!
