Orchard Road is considered by many to be the shopping heaven of Singapore. It is located in one of Singapore’s most iconic shopping districts. Orchard Road has many shopping malls on the same street. Many of the malls are connected with easy access from one mall to another. This connection creates an almost endless row of shopping for shopping lovers. For this reason and its fame, Orchard Road is always very crowded with shoppers.

Q. What do you think about places like Orchard Road, with so many malls and options to choose from?

A. The first thing that I thought of when I read the question is “fast fashion.” Fast fashion means buying low-quality clothes at extremely low prices. We usually have to buy more clothes when buying fast fashion because they break more easily. Instead, we can choose to buy clothes of higher quality that would last longer, even though they might be a bit more expensive. This would lower any material waste and be better for the environment. Fast fashion is also bad for the environment because of the chemicals that are used and the shipment of clothes all around the world.
